Alex from Buck Products was kind enough to hand make a rucksack for me to test out. He's making these things by himself here in the USA in Montana.... very cool. It's great to see folks making a go on their own with these small scale manufacturing operations and home made DIY mentalities. So many products are simply disposable these days... I believe the future is a return to high quality products that will last a lifetime... and hopefully drive improvement and sustainability in the creation of those products. Check out Alex's bags here.

The Mattson 2 - Feeling Hands
Our friends the Mattson 2 have released their anticipated new album "Feeling Hands" on the Galaxia Platform. It's a great album and is already under heavy rotation... download it here. During our trip to Maui, a few of us threw down a beach blanket under the stars and listened to these guys knocking back a few beers.... it was one of the best nights of the trip.

SEPTEMBER
Nick Radford sent over this great video put together from footage from the September Project. They released a great book a few years back too... still one of my favorites.

STRAWFOOT HANDMADE
There are some cool things happening in Santa Cruz. Local one-man shop, Strawfoot Handmade, is making some fantastic bags from canvas, leather, and reclaimed things like pendleton blankets. I am looking to pick up one of his camera bags to support the cause.

SPACE SHUTTLE ENDEAVOR
Check out this pic snapped by an airplane passenger, Stephanie Gordon, on her iPhone as she flew into Palm Beach, FL this morning. From the last flight of Space Shuttle Endeavor. She posted it on Twitter and a few hours later had quite the new following of fans.
IN THE WILDS BY NIGEL PEAKE
For all its blessings, one of the great tragedies of urban life is that we’ve lost the granularity of nature, the calm of the countryside, the quiet details of the soil after rain or a tree’s cracked bark or the soft glimmer of a summer field. That’s exactly what you’ll find in illustrator Nigel Peake‘s new book, In The Wilds — a lovely collection of hand-drawn illustrations that capture the near-forgotten charm of rural life.

1956 VINTAGE CARAVAN
I would love to live in this little caravan for awhile... probably in the hills... near some big redwood trees... with a view of the ocean. I'd imagine a little dirt road would lead down to a sandy cove with a perfect little point set up.
HOTEL HANA
We are getting hitched in Maui soon... and wanted to share a link to a really fun hotel we're going to check out for a couple of nights. I guess it used to be an older ranch that had some big renovations done to it recently. My favorite part... No TV. Wild horses. I think yoga in the AM, some breakfast, maybe a hike or solo surf session... then relaxing in some Adirondack chairs seems rather nice with my favorite person.

COLD WATER CLASSIC ~ MARK LEARY
Photographer Mark Leary was sent to shoot a surf contest for O'Neill and Huck magazine. I like how Mark captured the feeling of being in a remote location as a witness to a unique culture and event. When this short is finished, it feels as if I was really there.... very well done. Mark is also a very talented photographer who shoots large format film. Check out his site for some of his interesting nautical photographic projects.

SUMMER HANGOUT BOHEMIA
This looks like a great place to kick around for abit with some good friends and food. That big porch is just perfect for a cold Bohemia and some lanterns in the evening.

VINTAGE KEYS
Look at this image of these great vintage keys found over at Design Sponge. I would love to have these in a shadowbox on my wall.
WALL OF BICYCLES
Check out this great bike shop in Germany, where the inventory is simply hung on the exterior of the building. Via Unstitched.
ECLECTIC BATHROOM
It might not be cozy enough for some... but this is a pretty cool little setup. I think it might be abit creepy though for guy visitors staring at that picture while using the facilities. Regardless...beautiful worn walls and cool clawfoot tub. via Delight by Design.
COLD AM
It's chilly today. There was a chance of even some snow falling in San Francisco this weekend... I didn't see any... but it got me thinking today about this.

DEUS SURF SWAP PART 4
Have you ever heard of Deus Ex Machina? Doesn't get much better than this for me. Custom cycles, vintage surfboards, and a whole lot of style. They are putting on a vintage surf swap event in Oz... if you're on that side of the world... you should definitely go check it out.
STOP AND REST
Looks like a nice place to stop and rest. Maybe it's time you went for a walk in the mountains. Photo Hanne.

PONCE'S MEXICAN RESTAURANT
Ponce's Restaurant. This is one of the best mexican restaurants and community chill spots in San Diego, California. Its located inland abit and outside of downtown in the quaint and fun neighborhood of Kensington. They have some of the best carne asada burritos, green salsa (you have to ask for it), and enchiladas around. The atmosphere is pretty trippy with old suits of armor and other eclectic things abound. Its not your typical sad americanized Mexican restaurant. Go here... sit outside on the patio... or inside by the bar... and you will not be disappointed. Here's another tip... go with an ice cold bohemia or sangria... for some reason... they just taste better here.

BUSY
Free time. If I had more of it... I'd love to have a relaxing morning with my lady and sip an almond cappuccino outside before going for a bike ride.

FRAMED COLLAGE
I really like large murals of framed inspiration. Abit more refined than an inspiration board... a very eclectic and interesting look. What do you think?
TY PAINTS
Yes, she does!
I really like the mixed media work of east coast artist Ty Williams. If only Joanie would let me hang it on the wall!
